A will contest (contesting a will) is a lawsuit challenging the validity of a will
and the mental and emotional state of the signer of the will.
Bases for contesting a will include the competency of the signer
at the time of drafting the will, a challenge that the signer was under the "undue
influence" of someone pressuring them to award gifts and assets to other parties,
and contesting the legality and validity of the will (including whether or not the
will was properly witnessed. An invalid will cannot be probated.
