When a will is put into probate, the property of the estate is often called probate property. This is a casual term that is used as a way to refer to the property while in probate. The property is assessed to determine taxes owed and debts unresolved.

The term is used both to describe physical property (land) or the possessions and assets of the estate including cash and investments.
