A beneficiary is a broad term that includes anyone who is to
receive assets, property or profits from an estate, usually upon the
death of the estate’s owner.
Beneficiaries can include
immediate family members, those named as the recipients of life
insurance rewards, or charity organizations and philanthropic
efforts.
An "incidental beneficiary" or
a "third party beneficiary" is someone who benefits indirectly from
the rewards of the estate. They are not specifically named as a
beneficiary, however.
